WTSD is an Approved Training Provider (ATP) to deliver Traffic Control Training in NSW. From 1 July 2020, a nationally recognised competency-based framework was introduced for training courses for traffic controllers. To achieve either the Traffic Controller or Implementor qualifications the participants must attain the skill set requirements.

Traffic Control Training scheme changes

Changes were made to the Traffic Controller qualification, currently referred to as Blue Card training. This qualification is for employees who manage traffic through or past a roadwork site, directing traffic with a stop/slow down baton or similar control device.

From this date, workers undertaking any work on or near a public road in NSW will be required to hold the relevant:

The changes mean workers across a range of industries will require one of the above cards, including workers in the retail, manufacturing or transport industries, as well as the more traditional road and construction industries. Exemptions apply to some types of workers.
